WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A TREATMENT WITH EULIX

Your first consultation is usually 90 minutes long.  Upon arrival at Soft River Acupuncture, you will be given some forms to fill out.  Then, Eulix will bring you to a treatment room where she will take a full, detailed evaluation of your health.  She uses standard Chinese diagnostic techniques: taking 6 different pulses on both wrists, looking at your tongue, and channel palpation.  Eulix will discuss your health goals and the best form of treatment for you.  Treatment is administered during the first visit.

Follow-up treatments are usually 45-60 minutes long.  The second visit usually involves a report of findings. This entails taking all information gathered during the initial visit and creating a clear picture of which meridians and/or organs are out of balance.  This will allow both patient and practitioner to know exactly what’s going on, how long is treatment recommended for, etc.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is part of a 5000 year old system that treats the whole person (body, mind, and spirit).  It involves the insertion of very fine needles on the body, along a network of pathways called meridians.  The needles used during an acupuncture session are very thin and flexible, resulting in minimal to no pain.
After the needles are inserted, you may experience tingling, warming, or heavy sensations.  This is completely and should not be mistaken for pain.  Patients will lie on a comfortable table during which needles are retained for 20-30 minutes.

Herbal Medicine

Western or Chinese herbs and supplements are prescribed to reduce acute conditions or as a supplement to strengthen the body.  Herbs can be used alone or in combination with your acupuncture treatment, and it is a very safe and effective. Each customized formula will contain anywhere from 3-15 herbs either in pill, powder or tincture form. Herbs are prescribed for the duration of 3-4 weeks and are modified or re-prescribed as needed.

Nutritional Counseling

Eulix offers guidance on eating optimally for your individual constitution, based on Eastern and Western food energetics.  Such factors to optimize your diet include the current season, your current state of health, and common seasonal illnesses that you need to protect yourself from.

We encourage all of our patients to choose an organic whole foods diet that has minimal amounts of sugars, white flour products, synthetic additives, or various ingredients that are difficult to pronounce. This is universally beneficial to all people.

We believe that each person is different, and there is no one, single diet that is beneficial for all people.  Some people are required to eat more protein due to their deficiencies, while others may need to eat more vegetables because of a lack of vitamins they are taking from their food.  We encourage each patient to feel easy, stress-free, and dedicated to eating habits that will benefit them overall.

Acupressure, Tuina Massage, Bodywork

Tui Na is a therapeutic Chinese Bodywork Therapy used in China for 2000 years.  It uses traditional Chinese medical theory of the qi flow throughout the meridians as the basis of diagnosis.  The purpose of Tui Na is to promote the smooth flow of qi throughout the body; therefore allowing the body to heal itself.
